My high school BFF brought along her senior memory book and our yearbook from our graduation year. What memories we have of our years in high school. I looked at the page that had been reserved for me as her best friend in both her memory book and her yearbook. I guess that's when my writing career began when I wrote two, completely full, jam packed pages full of our crazy memories from high school in her yearbook. In fact we had four years full of incredible memories. She had even saved a letter I wrote to her our freshman year in college when I was in Maryland and she was in Houston, Texas. We were still plotting and we were trying to figure out how we were going to visit each other with no money. She was the lucky one because her mom worked for American Airlines and she had a pass.
In my own memory book, I had predicted my future. According to my book, I was supposed to be married to a guy named Gerald and have two boys Gerald and Gerrell. Instead I married and divorced the same guy twice, had two children and then went on to marry a man named Bobby with six children. I guess I was a little off huh?
I had written down other milestones that I had hoped to achieve. Had I achieved many of my hopes and dreams? Yes I went on to college, graduated and even got the masters degree I desired. I got married and gave birth to two children. I got a job after college and have a wonderful career. My goal was to make more money than my parents did. I even achieved another milestone by writing a book.
Well, I guess I am not too far off of my life plan. What about you? Have you achieved the milestones and goals you set for yourself? If not focus on your future and make plans to achieve new goals. Nowadays people are making bucket lists. What's on your bucket list? My daughter had a summer bucket list and asked me what was on mine. I thought about it for a while and decided to make my own. The first thing on my bucket list is to publish a minimum of two more books. Halfway there check! Other major items on my list include: traveling to Italy, being a really cool grandma, and running a marathon. Well, I gotta go and get busy working on mine! To the class of 79, may all your dreams come true! See ya in 5!
